The passage from Murray Island to Mansila is fast, direct, and deceptively intense. Around 20 nautical miles through cold southern waters where wind acceleration between islands, sudden fog, and unstable conditions can quickly turn a small sprint into a serious navigation challenge.
These channels are known for compressed weather systems and unpredictable local wind behavior. Even over a short distance, conditions can shift dramatically depending on visibility and pressure moving through the mountains and islands around the route.
