CAPE SATA TO OKINAWA

Cape Sata → Okinawa
From Cape Sata, at the southern tip of Kyushu, the Sanderling leaves Japan’s main islands behind and heads southwest toward Okinawa. The route follows the general direction of the Ryukyu island chain across a long stretch of open water strongly influenced by the Kuroshio, one of the world’s major ocean currents. Reading the relationship between wind, current and the islands along the route becomes a central part of the passage.
