Thayer - Freight Schooner

The Thayer is a late 1800 freight schooner that sailed the West Coast of the USA delivering lumber from the North down to San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1912, due to the evolution of steam engines, it was retrofit as a salmon fishing boat, which is its current configuration. Although its real size was 67 meter long, it was scaled down for SA at 50 meter. Also due to SA limitation to only 2 functional masts, the third gaff aft was replaced with a boomless Code 0. |
