- finally a Bird Design Yachts equipped with wings, here is the Petrel 39, a neo retro monohull with foils nicknamed "the toy" or "the bomb" equipped with 8 interactive parts including a sun awning hidden in the cockpit locker and a complete set of sails, it combines elegance performance and comfort - the foils are not simple accelerators, a foil first creates additional drag then a lift which reduces the heel and allows to carry more sail surface and finally at high speed lifts the hull and reduces its drag, - the question that the skipper must always ask himself is "does my foil slow down or accelerate the boat?" depending on the wind strength, the speed and the state of the sea - the balance between the support of the foil on the water due to the speed and the force of the wind in the sails which induces the heel is fragile, if at one point the boat loses speed it loses support on the water and therefore it heels more, the lift is no longer vertical and it decreases again, the heel increases and so on, it will be necessary to restart the speed by straightening the boat then by accelerating gradually -for the helm console I recommend the excellent instrument 4 screen chart plotter 16/9 by Wildcat ---------------------------------------------- - enfin un Bird Design Yachts equipé d'ailes, voici le Petrel 39 , un monocoque néo rétro a foils surnomée "le jouet" ou "la bombe" doté de 8 partie interactive dont un taud de soleil caché dans le coffre de cockpit et d'un jeux de voiles complet il allie élégance performance et confort - les foils ne sont pas de simple accelerateurs, un foil crée d'abord de la trainée supplementaire puis une portance qui diminue la gite et permet de porter plus de surface de voile et enfin a grande vitesse souléve la coque et diminue la trainée de celle ci, - la question que doit toujours se poser le skipper est "est ce que mon foil freine ou accélére le bateau?" selon la force du vent, l'allure et l'etat de la mer - l'équilibre entre l'appuie du foil sur l'eau due a la vitesse et la force du vent dans les voiles qui induie la gite est fragile,si a un moment le bateau perd de la vitesse il perd de l'appuie sur l'eau et donc il gite plus,la portance n'est plus verticale et elle diminue encore,la gite augmente et ainsi de suite, il seras necessaire de relancer la vitesse en redressant le bateau puis en accelerant progressivement - pour la console de barre je recommande l'excellent instrument 4 screen chart plotter 16/9 de Wildcat |
