The class40 is a 40 feet fast modern sailboat made for offshore racing, solohanded, double-handed or with a crew.nIt's a relatively easy boat compared to the imocas that requires less efforts, but is still pretty fast. nIt notably competes in La Route du Rhum, the Transat Jacques Vabres or even the Rolex Fastnet Race.nIt also has it's own race calendar, such as the Normandy Channel Race, or the Globe 40.nnThe class is ruled by a gauge, that basically determines the lenght (12,19m), the draft (3m) the beam (4,50m) and all the different values to respect to be able to submit a design.nThe class has been created in 2004 , the goal was to gather the skippers under the same will, to compete together with reasonable budgets, still having different designs.nnThe JL40 is widely inspired by the Lift V2 (Crosscall, Paprec-Arkea, Centrakor, Captain Alternance), with small differences. This yacht, designed by Marc Lombard has won many races and is still giving excellent performances.nThe most part of the class40's are homeported in Lorient, french brittany. You can eventually find some in La Trinité sur Mer, Concarneau, Port la Forêt, Brest or even Saint Malo.nPlease note that the keel is NOT a real kanting keel, it is only beacause of the way boats are made in SA3 but this one IS NOT MOVING, feel free to ask on the official discord if you have any questions or requests. |
